I recently used Avira UnErase to restore some files and folders that I had accidentally deleted. The program was very easy to use and the results were great. It was able to detect data traces and revert system action over a period of time. I was able to recreate the content of the files and folders according to the history of its use. Overall, I would highly recommend Avira UnErase to anyone looking to restore deleted files and folders.
Avira UnErase is a small application that allows you to restore deleted files which were removed from the Recycle Bin or directly deleted intentionally or by accident. You can recover files deleted by viruses, uninstallers, DOS programs.
When you delete a file, you don't delete the sectors of the hard disk, but the entry in a list of contents and mark those sectors as available for write operations. This program takes advantage of that process and allows you to restore a file as long as these sectors were not overwritten.
UnErase supports the following file systems: FAT16, FAT32, NTFS4, NTFS5, and can recover compressed files (NTFS, NTFS5), encrypted files (NTFS5), streams (NTFS, NTFS5), multiple files with the same name, or local files.
This is a light program with a very simple interface allowing you to carry it on a portable flash memory or floppy disc, it is easy to use, just a couple of steps (the developer doesn't guarantee results but it won't hurt to try if you are desperate because of an important file lost because of an accidental delete operation).
This is a freeware application, so you can download and use it without any cost for private, non commercial use .
System Requirements:
Windows 2000/XP
